14.2. Shipping by SEA & ROAD
Vessel and Truck shipments are NOT DANGEROUS GOODS REGULATED. When shipping by SEA & ROAD apply: SP971 and 49 CFR 173.220(c)
14.3 Packing instructions for shipping by SEA & Road
If shipping the unit inside the packaging crate ensure that the crate is upright in the correct position and not damaged. Do place other crates on top of the crate to ensure no damage occurs to the outer packaging during transportation.
If shipping, without the packaging crate, manoeuvre the unit into position and apply the brakes. Ensure the unit is securely tied down using the tie down points to keep the unit in place and upright.
14.4 Shipping by AIR
AIR must ship as UN3171, Battery powered equipment, Class 9.
14.3. Packaging Instructions for shipping by AIR
Packing Instruction 952 and adhering to Special Provision A94.
Special Provision A94: Batteries or cells containing sodium must not contain dangerous goods other than sodium, sulphur and/or polysulphides. Batteries or cells must not be offered for transport at a temperature such that liquid elemental sodium is present in the battery or cell unless approved and under the conditions established by the appropriate national authority.
Cells must consist of hermetically sealed metal casings which fully enclose the dangerous goods and which are so constructed and closed as to prevent the release of the dangerous goods under normal conditions of transport.
Batteries must consist of cells secured within and fully enclosed by a metal casing so constructed and closed as to prevent the release of the dangerous goods under normal conditions of transport
