SECTION 4. FIRST-AID MEASURES
4.1 Description of first aid measures
Batteries do not present a health hazard under normal use and handling.
IN CASE OF TRANSFER TO HOSPITAL, SEND / SHOW THIS SAFETY DATA SHEET. First-aid measures in the event of exposure to internal cell contents are:
Skintouch: Remove all contaminated clothing and flush extraneous matter with soap and plenty of water immediately for at least 15 minutes. Get medical aid.
Eyes contact: In case of electrolyte contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for several minutes. If possible remove contact lenses if they are wearing them before rinsing. Do not let them rub their eves. Get medical aid ASAP. If appropriate procedures are not taken loss of sight may occur.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Give oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Get medical aid.
Ingestion: Swallowing is not anticipated in normal condition. If accidentally eaten seek medical attention immediately, dilute by giving plenty of water. Assure that mucus does not obstruct
the airway. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
4.2 Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed
The following effects apply only to leaking batteries. Undamaged batteries present no chemical hazards.
Inhalation: Corrosive, Irritant: cough, difficult breathing, possible systemic effects, delayed pulmonary edema.
Skin: Corrosive: pain, redness; thermal or acid burns may result in permanent damage.
Eyes: Corrosive: acid burns, redness
Ingestion: Corrosive: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain; severe internal burns and damage
